
Near financial collapse, the Greek government is advocating tough austerity measures to cut 10% from the nation’s budget. Changes pushed by Prime Minister George Papaconstantinou include:
* Tax increases
* Salary & pension cuts for civil servants
* Increased sales taxes on alcohol & tobacco
Greece must make these changes in order to obtain an IMF loan of $180 billion.

New York City cops are currently investigating a car bomb found Saturday night in Times Square. The bomb, made up of crude fireworks, gas, and propane was found in a smoking Nissan Pathfinder. Much of Times Square, including hotels, theaters, and streets nearby, was shut down in response to the scare.
Mayor Mike Bloomberg said “We avoided what could have been a very deadly event” in an early morning press conference. The White House said that President Obama had been briefed on the event, and that federal assistance had been offered to the investigation.
